Stayed with Mike Cotton in the early 1970s and was thus part of the Mike Cotton Sound and Satisfaction. Began doubling on tuba during the early 1970s. Worked in Johnny Johnson's Band Waggon for a year, then spent seven years with the Kinks before working with Ken Colyer from 1980 until 1983. In the early 1980s played tuba in Chris Barber's Band (augmented for international tour with Doctor John). In 1983 began working with Monty Sunshine and continued to do so through the 1990s. During this period also gigged in various other ensembles including Five-A-Slide (founder-member), Excelsior Brass Band, London Ragtime Orchestra and in John Slaughter's Blues Band.
With Ralph Sharon (1951), then joined Reg Wale on liner Caronia (summer 1952). With Ambrose (1953), Ken Moule (1955), Basil and Ivor Kirchin (1955-6), then joined Paul Adam (1956). , before moving to Australia in 1960.
